About Dr. Katinka…

Dr. Katinka van der Merwe grew up in South Africa. She received her Doctor of Chiropractic degree from Parker College of chiropractic in 1999. Upon graduation, she set out to study cutting edge post graduate techniques that would allow her to treat the chronically and acutely ill who have been left without hope.

She expanded her treatment expertise with course work in functional medicine and neurology, Quantum Neurology(TM) nerve rehabilitation, NRCT, Bio Energetic Synchronization Technique, Frequency Specific Microcurrent, Biologic Medicine as well as nutrition.

Dr. Katinka’s mission is to give people back their hope that the body can heal through innovative, non-invasive brain-based chiropractic treatment. When people get their lives back, the effects of it are far-reaching. Everyone around them is affected. Patients may return to work, exercise, travel even to their hobbies. Patients can return to fully living once more.

But, I am constantly learning. I make it my goal to keep my skills and education current and cutting-edge, often ahead of what the masses know. My job, which I charge myself with, is delivering that knowledge to those who need it. I want to make a difference. I am incredibly blessed. I have found my passion: helping those in chronic, debilitating pain.

In their words…

“After completing ten weeks of treatments with Dr. Katinka I have been able to slowly stop all of my RSD prescription medications. My mind feels so much more alert and the ability to communicate without losing your train of thought is amazing. I am forever grateful that Dr. Katinka has such a passion and desire to help those who suffer from this isolating, devastating, life altering condition. Do not accept life as it is if you are suffering, and never give up hope! I encourage you to be your own advocate and to get help.”

conquering fibromyalgia

Fibromyalgia is a complicated, vicious beast. It methodically steals your quality of life, robs you of sleep, and submerses you in terrible daily pain and debilitating fatigue.

The cause of it is a mystery and it is deemed incurable. The traditional medical approach to this condition is to manage it by taking medications to cover up the pain and symptoms associated with fibromyalgia. Van de Merwe discusses the role of the nervous system and how malfunction causes fibromyalgia.

Lastly, she highlights positive actions patients can start taking today to help measure and address the neurological, physical, and chemical symptoms associated with fibromyalgia. Dr. Katinka’s aim is to help readers conquer this neurologic disorder and “tame the beast”.
